How this list is built
The list is drawn from the acquisition records of the companies profiled on CorpDigest, so it covers deals made by those companies and is not a complete record of every large deal in history. A deal appears when its recorded value is $10 billion or more and it has a source link. Mergers and purchases of large stakes are included and are named as such in the Acquired column.
Deal values are the figures given by the linked source, in the dollars of the deal year, and are not adjusted for inflation. Sources differ on whether assumed debt is counted, so two deals of similar size may not be measured the same way. Deals marked pending have been announced and had not closed when the record was last updated. Deals that were called off are left out. Amounts reported in another currency are shown in US dollars at an approximate rate and marked with ~.
