In 2006, brothers Avishai and Nadav Abrahami and their close friend Giora Kaplan were sitting on a beach in Tel Aviv brainstorming ideas for an internet startup. When they tried to build a simple website to showcase their project, they were stunned by how painful, frustrating, and expensive web development was: they had to write complex HTML/CSS code, configure web servers, and deal with broken browser layouts. The trio realized that if three seasoned tech veterans found building a website infuriating, ordinary small business owners stood zero chance. They founded **Wix** in 2006 in a small Tel Aviv apartment to build a visual platform where anyone could build a website visually with zero code. In 2012, in a legendary engineering bet, they rebuilt the entire platform from Flash to HTML5, cementing Wix as the undisputed global champion of no-code web design.
Avishai Abrahami is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wix.com. In 2006, Abrahami founded Wix to make website creation accessible to everyone. Abrahami guided the HTML5 rewrite in 2012, led Wix's 2013 NASDAQ IPO, launched Wix Studio, and built a global cloud software empire serving 260M+ users.
