Founded 2002 in San Jose, California, United States
Originally incubated inside Netflix before being spun out in 2008 by Anthony Wood, Roku launched the first dedicated Netflix streaming player and developed into North America's dominant connected-TV operating platform.
Anthony Wood is the founder, CEO, and Chairman of Roku. A pioneer in home entertainment technology, Wood conceived the modern streaming media player and oversaw Roku's evolution into a public connected-TV platform.
Acquired demand-side advertising platform (DSP) to build out the OneView ad-tech platform for automated TV ad buying.
Acquired exclusive global streaming rights to over 75 premium short-form shows from defunct mobile video startup Quibi.
