Founding Story
In January 2022, Reliance Retail led a $240 million funding round in Bengaluru delivery startup Dunzo and took a 25.8% stake for about $200 million. Two months later it launched JioMart Express in Navi Mumbai. The app promised grocery delivery within about 90 minutes from nearby Reliance stores. By February 2023 the app had disappeared from the Google Play Store and its website was inactive.

Mukesh Ambani is chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, the parent of Reliance Retail. JioMart Express was launched by Reliance Retail under his group's retail strategy, which also covers JioMart, Smart Bazaar and the Dunzo investment.

Isha Ambani leads Reliance Retail Ventures as executive director and sits on the Reliance Industries board as a non-executive director. She presented Reliance Retail's FY26 results and JioMart quick-commerce numbers at the 2026 AGM.
