Who Founded Adyen?

Pieter van der Does co-founded Adyen in 2006. Leveraging his massive experience from building his previous payments startup (Bibit), he served as Adyen's CEO, aggressively targeting highly complex, multinational tech companies (like Uber and Netflix) that desperately needed a unified global payment processor. He successfully led the company to a massive €7 billion IPO in 2018. Pieter van der Does was born in 1969.

Arnout Schuijff co-founded Adyen and served as its Chief Technology Officer. He personally architected the company's single-platform backend, completely avoiding the 'spaghetti code' of acquisitions that plagued legacy processors like Worldpay. This massive technical superiority allowed Adyen to process transactions faster and with higher approval rates. He retired from the company in 2021. Arnout Schuijff was born in 1967.
