XPeng's growth plan has three parts: a wider vehicle lineup (new models such as the GX and MONA L03), more overseas sales (MONA L03 had its global launch in Munich in July 2026), and turning its in-house AI work into new businesses. That AI work covers Turing chips, driving models, robotaxis and the IRON humanoid robot, now housed in the separately financed Dogotix subsidiary. For Q3 2026, XPeng guided to 115,000 to 121,000 deliveries and ~$3.02 billion (RMB21.7 billion) to ~$3.25 billion (RMB23.4 billion) in revenue.
XPeng earns most of its revenue by designing, building and selling smart electric vehicles under the XPENG and MONA brands. In Q2 2026, vehicle sales brought in ~$2.37 billion (RMB17.05 billion) of ~$2.74 billion (RMB19.74 billion) in total revenue. The rest comes from services and other revenue (~$375 million (RMB2.70 billion) in Q2 2026). This includes technical R&D services for a car manufacturer, widely understood to be Volkswagen, along with parts and accessories, charging and other services. This segment carried a 75.1% margin in Q2 2026, against a 12.1% vehicle margin. As of June 30, 2026, XPeng sold through 740 stores in 257 cities and ran 3,780 self-operated charging stations, 2,720 of them ultra-fast.
In August 2023, XPeng acquired the smart electric vehicle development operations of ride-hailing giant Didi for HK$5.835 billion ($744 million USD) in all-stock consideration.
XPeng acquired the design, intellectual property, and pre-production engineering of Project 'Da Vinci,' which it transformed into the smash-hit mass-market MONA M03 electric vehicle.
Didi actively promotes XPeng's MONA vehicles across its massive ride-hailing fleet, sharing customer insights, marketing channels, and fleet charging infrastructure.
In 2020, XPeng and He Xiaopeng acquired and invested heavily in urban air mobility pioneer AeroHT, turning it into Asia's largest flying car company and securing over $500 million in dedicated venture funding.
Initially utilizing contract manufacturing with Haima Automobile, XPeng acquired Guangdong Foday Automobile in 2020 for 16 million RMB to secure its own independent commercial vehicle production license for its Zhaoqing megafactory.
Volkswagen invested $700 million to acquire a 4.99% equity stake in XPeng, establishing a joint technology development partnership where XPeng licenses its vehicle platform and software architecture.
XPeng pursues asset-light, capability-driven transactions that bring complementary AI algorithms, smart cockpit software, or supply chain synergies without draining corporate cash reserves.
Acquiring Didi's engineered platform allowed XPeng to launch the best-selling MONA M03 in record time with minimal incremental R&D expense, while the Volkswagen deal provided high-margin software revenues.
