Company History
Founded 2010 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
In 2010, 24-year-old IIT Bombay graduate Bhavish Aggarwal hired a private rental car to travel from Bangalore to Bandipur. Midway through the journey, the driver stopped in the middle of nowhere and demanded an exorbitant cash surcharge, threatening to abandon Aggarwal on the dark highway when he refused. Stranded on the roadside, Aggarwal experienced firsthand the painful vulnerability, price gouging, and unreliability that plagued Indian taxi travel. Aggarwal teamed up with his college friend Ankit Bhati to create 'OlaTrip.com' from a small Mumbai apartment on December 3, 2010, initially operating as an online tour and cab booking website before pivoting into an on-demand smartphone app. By giving drivers GPS-enabled smartphones and giving passengers upfront metered pricing with transparent driver ratings, Bhavish and Ankit ignited India's ride-hailing revolution.
Bhavish Aggarwal is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ANI Technologies (Ola Cabs). In 2010, Aggarwal co-founded Ola to revolutionize Indian urban mobility. Aggarwal pioneered on-demand auto-rickshaw aggregation, raised billions from global investors, fought off international competitors, and subsequently founded EV titan Ola Electric and Krutrim AI.
