Vanta was founded in San Francisco in 2018 by Christina Cacioppo and Erik Goldman, who had worked together at Dropbox. Its first product automated the evidence collection for SOC 2, the security report that enterprise buyers commonly demand from software vendors. Instead of screenshots and spreadsheets, Vanta connects to a customer's cloud, identity, code and HR systems and checks controls such as encryption, multi-factor authentication and device security automatically. It later added ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR and dozens of other frameworks, plus a Trust Center for sharing security documentation, AI questionnaire answering and vendor risk management. Funding came from Sequoia Capital (Series A, 2021, and Series C, 2024), Craft Ventures (Series B, 2022) and Wellington Management (Series D, 2025). In April 2026 Vanta reported more than $300 million in ARR and 16,000+ customers. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
Vanta sells annual software subscriptions. Price depends on company size, the number of compliance frameworks a customer needs and which modules it adds, such as Trust Center, questionnaire automation and vendor risk management. Vanta does not publish a price list; deals are quoted by sales. Customers start with one framework, usually SOC 2, and spend more as they add ISO 27001, HIPAA or other frameworks and extra products.
