David Goldman was the founding commercial visionary and longtime Chairman of The Sage Group. Frustrated by the paperwork in his family printing firm, Goldman commissioned Newcastle University student Graham Wylie to write accounting software in 1981. Goldman recognized that small businesses across the globe faced identical accounting hurdles, leading Sage through its rapid expansion and 1989 London Stock Exchange listing until his retirement in 1997.
