In October 1967, 33-year-old French executive Serge Kampf resigned from computer maker Bull after disagreeing with corporate bureaucracy. Setting up shop in a modest two-room apartment in Grenoble—the birthplace of French computer science—Kampf founded **Sogeti** (Société pour la Gestion de l'Entreprise et le Traitement de l'Information) to provide enterprise IT processing and management consulting. In 1974, Kampf acquired European IT pioneer CAP (Centre d'Analyse et de Programmation) and Swiss firm Gemini Computer Systems, combining the names in 1975 to create **Cap Gemini Sogeti** (later shortened to Capgemini). Kampf championed a culture of entrepreneurial autonomy and deep client loyalty, turning a provincial French startup into Europe's greatest IT consulting empire.
Serge Kampf was the legendary founding father of Capgemini. Starting in a two-room Grenoble apartment in 1967, Kampf built Europe's largest IT consulting firm. Kampf established Capgemini's core values—Honesty, Boldness, Trust, Freedom, Team Spirit, Modesty, and Fun—and served as Chairman and CEO for over 45 years.
