Founding Story
Serge Kampf, a former sales executive at French computer maker Bull, founded Sogeti in Grenoble on October 1, 1967 to offer computer services and management consulting independent of hardware makers. In 1974-1975 Sogeti took over CAP and the US-based Gemini Computer Systems, creating Cap Gemini Sogeti, which became Europe's largest IT services group and listed on the Paris Bourse in 1985. The name was later shortened to Capgemini.

Serge Kampf founded Sogeti in Grenoble on October 1, 1967. He built it into Europe's largest IT services group through the 1970s takeovers of CAP and Gemini Computer Systems, listed it in Paris in 1985 and led the 2000 Ernst & Young Consulting deal. He handed the CEO role to Paul Hermelin in 2002, remained chairman until 2012 and died in 2016. He was a well-known patron of French rugby. Serge Kampf was born in 1934.
