What Navi is
Navi Limited, earlier Navi Technologies, is a Bengaluru fintech group started in December 2018 by Sachin Bansal and Ankit Agarwal. One app carries personal and home loans from its NBFC Navi Finserv, health and motor insurance from Navi General Insurance, index funds from Navi AMC, and UPI payments.
How it was built
Instead of applying for new licences, Navi bought them: Chaitanya India Fin Credit in 2019, DHFL General Insurance in 2020 and Essel Mutual Fund in 2021. After the RBI did not approve a bank licence in 2022, Navi stayed an NBFC and sold Chaitanya's microfinance business to Svatantra in 2023.
How Navi makes money
Lending is the core earner. Navi Finserv's AUM crossed ~$1.51 billion (₹13,000 crore) in FY2026. Insurance premiums, fund management fees and payments add smaller amounts. Navi UPI, India's fourth-largest UPI app in FY2026, is mainly a customer acquisition channel.
Financials
Revenue from operations reached ~$346 million (₹2,982 crore) in FY2026, up from ~$298 million (₹2,565 crore) in FY2025 and about $253 million (₹2,180 crore) in FY2024. The net loss widened to ~$54.1 million (₹466 crore) in FY2026 from ~$14.6 million (₹126 crore), mostly due to UPI spending. Navi broke even on PBT in Q4 FY26 and posted ~$12.1 million (₹104 crore) PBT in Q1 FY27.
Ownership and leadership
Sachin Bansal owns nearly all of Navi and is Founder and Executive Chairman. Rajiv Naresh is MD and CEO of Navi Limited. In August 2026 Prosus agreed to invest $100 million, the company's first institutional money.
What's next
Navi plans to file for an IPO of about $348 million (₹3,000 crore) by the March quarter of FY2027, after shelving a SEBI-approved ~$389 million (₹3,350 crore) issue in 2022. Its main rivals are Bajaj Finance and app lenders in credit, PhonePe and Google Pay in UPI, and Groww and Zerodha in investing.
