Mike Sievert
President and Chief Executive Officer
Legacy
Mike Sievert took over as CEO on April 1, 2020—the exact day the Sprint merger closed and the same day widespread COVID-19 lockdowns began in the United States—inheriting simultaneously the opportunity of the decade's most consequential telecommunications merger and the operational challenge of managing a major integration during a global pandemic. Sievert had served as T-Mobile's President and COO under John Legere since 2015, overseeing marketing, sales, and customer experience functions that were central to the Un-carrier strategy's execution. Under Sievert's leadership, T-Mobile has sustained its Un-carrier competitive momentum while adding operational discipline around free cash flow generation, shareholder capital return, and integration execution that is less flamboyant but arguably more financially consequential than the Legere era's headline-generating antics. Sievert launched T-Mobile's share repurchase program, initiated the company's first regular dividend, drove the ahead-of-schedule Sprint network decommissioning, and oversaw T-Mobile Home Internet's growth from concept to 6.4 million subscribers.
