Founders
· Founded 2017 · Ashburn, Virginia, United States
The roots of DXC Technology represent the merger of two of the greatest pioneer corporations in computing history. In April 1959, two young computer programmers, Fletcher Jones and Roy Nutt, founded Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) with $100 in capital in Los Angeles, California. CSC became the first independent software company in American history to be listed on a major stock exchange, writing groundbreaking mainframe compilers and operating systems for IBM 704 computers, NASA's space programs, and national defense agencies. Three years later, in 1962 in Dallas, Texas, a brilliant IBM salesman named H. Ross Perot founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) on a revolutionary concept: that corporations should not buy massive mainframe computers, but should outsource their entire data processing operations to specialist computer engineers. Perot built EDS into an outsourcing empire that was acquired by General Motors in 1984 for $2.5 billion, spun off in 1996, and later acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2008 for $13.9 billion, becoming HPE Enterprise Services. In May 2016, HPE Chief Executive Meg Whitman and CSC Chief Executive Mike Lawrie engineered a historic corporate masterstroke: separating HPE's Enterprise Services division and merging it with CSC to create a pure-play IT services colossus with $25 billion in combined enterprise value. On April 3, 2017, the newly formed entity officially debuted on the New York Stock Exchange as DXC Technology.
