Founding Story

Thomas Jefferson Hadley (1838–1900) was a North Carolina civic leader, Confederate Army veteran, and Wilson County businessman who partnered with Alpheus Branch in 1872 to create the private banking house of Branch and Hadley. Hadley's deep relationships with local farmers and merchant store owners in Wilson provided the essential community trust needed to gather early deposits and safely underwrite agricultural trade credit during the tumultuous Reconstruction era.
