Background
Prabhkiran Singh is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, holding a degree in Civil Engineering. During his college years, he exhibited a strong entrepreneurial drive, running a lassi business called 'Khadke Glassi' before venturing into the apparel sector. His background in a premier engineering institute provided him with the analytical framework to approach the fragmented Indian apparel market not just as a fashion retailer, but as a data-driven, direct-to-consumer technology platform.
Founding Story
Prabhkiran Singh co-founded Bewakoof.com in 2012 with fellow IIT Bombay alumnus Siddharth Munot. Recognizing a large gap in the Indian market for affordable, expressive, and pop-culture-relevant casual wear for millennials and Gen Z, Singh built Bewakoof into a pioneering Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brand. Under his leadership, the company bypassed traditional retail channels, relying entirely on social media marketing and an agile, in-house manufacturing process that allowed them to launch hundreds of new designs every month based on real-time internet trends. Singh's focus on building a cult-like community rather than just a customer base allowed Bewakoof to scale greatly in a highly competitive fashion e-commerce landscape. After a decade of independent growth, he successfully navigated the company's acquisition by TMRW (an Aditya Birla Group venture) in 2022, securing the brand's financial future while retaining its distinctive, quirky identity.
