Founding Story
Nick Molnar is an Australian billionaire entrepreneur who co-founded the 'buy now, pay later' (BNPL) giant Afterpay. Molnar launched the company in 2014 with his neighbor, Anthony Eisen, pitching it as a digital evolution of the traditional layaway system. Under his leadership, Afterpay successfully captured the millennial market, offering a zero-interest alternative to traditional credit cards that exploded in popularity. Molnar drove the company's rapid international expansion into the US and UK markets and guided it through its successful listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2016. In 2021, Molnar and Eisen orchestrated the historic sale of Afterpay to Square, Inc. (now Block) for a staggering US$29 billion, marking one of the largest corporate sales in Australian history and cementing Molnar's status as one of Australia's youngest self-made billionaires.
