Anthony Eisen

Anthony Eisen attended Sydney Grammar School and earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He began his career as a chartered accountant at Price Waterhouse before moving into investment banking, specializing in mergers and acquisitions at firms like Credit Suisse. Before Afterpay, he served as the Chief Investment Officer at Guinness Peat Group, gaining the deep financial expertise required to engineer a global fintech platform.

Anthony Eisen is a veteran Australian fintech entrepreneur and former investment banker who co-founded Afterpay. Eisen met his co-founder, Nick Molnar, when they were neighbors in the Sydney suburb of Rose Bay; Eisen noticed Molnar's late-night work ethic and struck up a conversation. Combining Molnar's millennial retail expertise with Eisen's deep background in investment banking and risk management, the duo launched Afterpay in 2014. Eisen served as Co-CEO and Executive Chairman, managing the company's complex regulatory landscape, capital structure, and institutional investor relations as it rapidly scaled into a global BNPL juggernaut. He was instrumental in negotiating the historic US$29 billion acquisition of Afterpay by Block, Inc. in 2021, after which he continued to lead the Afterpay division and joined Block's board of directors.
