Financial summary

Airtable

Airtable did not publish conventional annual revenue or net income while private. Bending Spoons said in August 2026 that Airtable's annual recurring revenue was growing more than 20% year over year and was approximately $480 million as of June 2026. Airtable's December 2021 Series F raised $735 million, brought total investment to $1.36 billion, and valued the company at $11 billion pre-money. The 2021 funding valuation is historical, not a current valuation.

Microsoft

Microsoft's FY2026 revenue rose 17.8% to $331.8 billion, operating income rose 21% to $155.2 billion, and GAAP net income rose 31% to $133.7 billion. Fourth-quarter revenue was $90.0 billion (up 18%) with net income of $35.8 billion, helped by a $3.2 billion gain on its Anthropic investment. Microsoft Cloud revenue reached $59.3 billion in Q4, up 27%. The main pressure point is capital intensity: AI data center spending has pushed free cash flow growth well below earnings growth. Microsoft crossed the $3 trillion market valuation threshold in 2024, driven by its leadership in cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

Business model and strategy

Airtable

How it makes money

Airtable sells cloud software subscriptions. Its plans provide different collaboration, administration, automation, app-building, and AI capabilities, while a free plan supports initial use. Airtable said in December 2022 that enterprise customers represented the majority of revenue. Detailed segment revenue and profit figures are not publicly disclosed.

Growth strategy

Airtable shifted resources toward large enterprise customers in December 2022. It subsequently expanded its app-building and AI offerings, launching Cobuilder in 2024 and an AI-native product direction in 2025. Following the 2026 acquisition, Bending Spoons said it would invest in Airtable's product, support, and go-to-market operations.

Competitive advantage

Airtable combines familiar table and spreadsheet interactions with linked records, multiple views, automation, interfaces, and application-building tools. This lets business teams create workflows without starting with conventional software development. Its differentiation depends on product flexibility, governance, integrations, and the ability to support both self-service teams and enterprise deployments.

Microsoft

How it makes money

Microsoft reports three segments. Intelligent Cloud covers Azure, SQL Server, Windows Server, GitHub, Nuance, and enterprise services; server products and cloud services alone brought in $129.4 billion in FY2026, and Azure passed $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time.

Growth strategy

Microsoft's growth plan centers on AI capacity and AI subscriptions. It is spending heavily on data centers and chips to meet Azure demand that management says remains capacity constrained, and it is selling Microsoft 365 Copilot as a paid add-on, which passed 30 million paid seats by the end of FY2026.

Competitive advantage

Microsoft's main advantage is distribution inside enterprises. Identity (Entra), email and documents (Microsoft 365), collaboration (Teams), developer tools (GitHub, Visual Studio), and cloud infrastructure (Azure) are often bought together, which raises switching costs and lets Microsoft attach new products such as Copilot to existing contracts.
