Robert A. Bradway
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Legacy
Robert Bradway became Amgen's CEO in May 2012, succeeding Kevin Sharer, and has overseen the company's most significant strategic transformation since the Immunex acquisition in 2002. Under Bradway's leadership, Amgen completed five major acquisitions totaling approximately $60 billion, including the Horizon deal, and built a biosimilars business from scratch. He has maintained Amgen's dividend growth track record while managing the company through patent expirations affecting its legacy EPO and Neulasta franchises, demonstrating the financial discipline and portfolio management skills required of a CEO overseeing a company with significant product life-cycle challenges. Bradway's most consequential near-term bet is the obesity drug MariTide, a program he has publicly championed despite investor skepticism about Amgen's ability to compete against Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk.
