Michael Welch

Welch spent more than 30 years in transportation, mainly in time-critical expedited freight.

Michael Welch co-founded Express-1, an expedited ground carrier based in southwest Michigan, in 1989 and ran it as CEO. After Segmentz Inc. acquired Express-1 in 2004 he became president and later CEO of the combined company, which was renamed Express-1 Expedited Solutions in 2006 and became XPO Logistics in 2011. He died in 2019.
