Background
John Ripley Myers held a highly focused, deeply pragmatic background in late 19th-century American commerce and critical venture capitalization. Operating as the essential financial and marketing partner alongside William McLaren Bristol, this intense background in aggressively managing early corporate solvency provided the precise foundational leverage required to successfully establish the historic Bristol-Myers company.
Founding Story
John Ripley Myers was a highly dedicated American business pioneer and the deeply influential co-founder fundamentally responsible for the historic launch of the Bristol-Myers pharmaceutical empire. In 1887, alongside his close fraternity brother William McLaren Bristol, Myers aggressively invested critical capital to purchase the struggling Clinton Pharmaceutical Company. Operating out of Brooklyn, New York, Myers worked relentlessly to aggressively market the firm's highly specialized medicinal compounds to a massive, rapidly expanding national consumer base. Although he tragically died of pneumonia in 1899 long before witnessing the massive global success of the enterprise, his incredibly critical early financial partnership and highly devoted foundational support completely secured the early survival of the company, permanently cementing his name on one of the absolute largest pharmaceutical monopolies in global history.
