Edward Wible

Edward Wible was an American software engineer and former Francisco Partners associate who joined Nubank as co-founder and CTO despite having limited operating experience. Sequoia's Doug Leone initially questioned Wible's profile at the first board meeting, but Wible's technical capabilities — described as a 'human learning machine' who could master new technologies in days — proved critical to building Nubank's cloud-native platform.

He built Nubank's cloud-native, microservices-based technology platform from scratch, enabling the company to scale to 114+ million customers without legacy infrastructure constraints. Wible's decision to use Clojure (a functional programming language) and build on AWS was unconventional but created a technology stack that incumbent banks could not replicate.
